Bird Collage, glass paint, glue, drawing and printed images (2000)
The frame is the collage in this artwork while the actual hand painted image of a bird is the centre point. The bird looks around itself to ask the question “Where have I landed up? Look at this world that human beings have created all around me.“ The butterflies and animals are human fantasies. This world is topsy-turvy. What is real is THE BIRD.
I combined different images that are associated with each other and glued them on the painted frame. Then I used glass paint in layers. Finally, I covered the entire frame with several coats of varnish. I like the idea of using images that are not associated together to make a whole. Using dissociated images results in a new story which can be seen in this particular case.
