Connected (2015) 60.96cm X 60.96cm, canvas, acrylic and airbrush

This painting is about the core energy of life in all that surrounds us and the energy that connects all. The painted mesh symbolises this connectivity. The vulture shows that everything only ends at the micro scale. Even stones have a life and destiny.

This painting was influenced  by the fact that l witnessed my mother-in-law leaving this world. Her energy was leaving her and changed the shape of life.

You can see me in profile, watching at the left of the painting.

In the centre of this painting is the outline of my husband‘s head. Inside his head l have shown shape shifting images that represent energy and life. The energy moves from one to another, it has to go somewhere.

Just because we do not understand does not mean energy shifting is not happening. Religions try to channel this process into their narrative, but in my opinion the process is so simple that it is unbelievable. I think and paint what I feel.

This painting shows a dramatic shift from oil paint to acrylic because I discovered that I was allergic to turpentine and oil paint. My creativity was also shape shifting from one type of material to another. This resulted in a change in style and inspiration because I was using different painting materials that bring about different results when placed on canvas.

She’s a Leopard Too: Tapestry

My mother, who is a tapestry weaver, really liked this painting. She made a beautiful tapestry based on it that is just the same size as the original. It is included here.
