Bird Goddess, 2014

Bird Goddess (2017) 3×3 ft , oil paint& acrylic on Masonite board , 2017, Never exhibited, artist private collection

This painting is about perception. I imagined that birds had their own birdlike Goddess, that birds are just like humans who mostly perceive God as one of their own species.

The symbols incorporated in this painting are related to the creation, preservation, and continuity of all species. This Bird Goddess is the protector of all birds, she is the master of flight, fertility, music, and freedom on earth, in the sky, and in heaven.

I indulged in my love for birds to the utmost in this painting.  All the different birds are invented and were born from my imagination! Here the Goddess has spread her wing to embrace and protect all her little creatures of flight.  She is there for them and continually creates more and more.  Each bird is different, with their own personality and ability, generation after generation.

The Goddess’s world itself is also one of imagination.  Human artists leave this world after only a short time, but this Bird Goddess has been here for eons. She  will transform her children if they need change until the breath of life ends for her too.

All the little birds were painted in oil giving them a three-dimensional presence, even the goddess has wings of oil paint on the base of Camlin texture white.

She’s a Leopard Too: Tapestry

My mother, who is a tapestry weaver, really liked this painting. She made a beautiful tapestry based on it that is just the same size as the original. It is included here.
