The colour red is the colour of life. The life that flows through our veins and only turns red when the air touches it, magic!

Red is a colour full of energy and  depth. 

Red is the apple of fertility, an animistic belief of a distant past.

Red is the sign that asks you to stop.

Red flows and when it stops everything is gone. 

Red is the sunset that the black night swallows.

I use red in my art to signify health and happiness, like when I mix it with sienna (brown) and white for the pink of a cheek and lip.

I also use pure red in the parts of a  painting that I would like to be noticed. Kind of like a stop sign, ‘look here!’.  I am in this corner of red, feel the energy!
